Peer Evaluation.

Peer evaluation for Makeup and Hair design.
Throughout this brief I was partnered with Samantha Crayford. I think we really worked well as a pair in terms of making the time to practice each others looks and discuss design ideas and instructions, therefore I think the outcome of our designs were good, as going into the assessment we both knew what we were doing and what was expected.
I feel that following Sammie's design was easy as she clearly told me what she wanted and gave me face charts and instructions so that I could practice.
I think that Sammie executed my design well, however I would have liked the blush to have been a little darker so that it would show up on camera better and the eyeliner to look a little more level.
This project has tested how well you are able to follow a design and work in a team, this element I feel went well as I had a partner who was willing to put the effort in and create the best final outcome. In terms of the design I recreated on Sammie, I feel the eyelashes could have been applied a little better and once again the blush could have been a little stronger in terms of showing up on the camera.

Final Assessment part 2: My design

Here is my final design that my partner has re created on me. I feel the outcome of this was good, however I would have liked the eyebrows to have been a little whiter and the cheeks to have been a bit stronger so it would show up on camera better.

Final Assessment part 1: My Partners design.

Here are the final images from my partners design.

I feel that this design was easy to follow and that I have executed it quite well, the one thing that I would say could have improved on would be the application of the eyelashes and the blusher could have been a little stronger to show up more on the camera.

Preparation for my final design

Here is my final design face chart that I have sent to my partner.
To create this I have mixed the Illamasqua skin base with the lightest foundation from the Kyrolan palette to create as when experimenting with bases this was the one that seemed to fit the best with my skin. To add another element of the pale complexion I have decided to paint the eyebrows and eyelashes white. In terms of the eyeshadow I have decided to go for a gold as this to me represents a sense of luxury and royalty. With the lips I have gone for the traditional red lips, however this will be more of a stain and not that strong.

Below are the instructions that I have also prepared for my partner to use when creating my design.

Preparation for the final assessment: My partners final design

In preparation for the final assessment, my partner Sammie has sent me a copy of her final design with a list of the products that I will need so that i can practice this at home.

Lisa's Eldridge's make up moments: Off with her head! with Valli O'Reilly

Lisa Eldridge's make up moments: OFF WITH HER HEAD! Here is the full article
In this online article, Lisa Eldridge, has interviewed another make up artist, Valli O'Reilly about her work on the set of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.
Reading this article was very helpful in terms of understanding what it takes to be a makeup artist, for example Lisa Eldridge asked Valli O'Reilly what times she would come in, in the morning to work on the actors and actresses and she has replied that often she would get there at 4:30 in the morning. It has also been a good insight as O'Reilly has discussed how she would gather inspiration for the look of the Red Queen on actress Helena Bonham Carter, in this case she got inspiration for the eyebrows from Perc Westmore's look on Bette Davis from a previous Elizabeth film that we have looked at! This article has also proved that you have to be prepared for anything in this industry as the original forehead piece that they wanted to use on the actress didn't work with her as she was such an animated actress and moved her head and face too much, therefore O'Reilly had to come up with something better that would suit the actress.
All in all from this article it looks like O'Reilly had a wonderful time working on the set of this film and this article was exciting to read as somewhere in the future I could be doing something like this!
